Liles Construction partnered with Kanthal, a global leader in industrial heating technologies and resistance materials, on the upfit of their manufacturing facility in Concord, NC. The project began in the second quarter of 2024, when our team collaborated with Kanthal to develop, budget, and plan for an expanded layout and updated manufacturing processes within their existing space.

The upfit was divided into two phases. Phase One included demolition work, installation of a new demising wall, and electrical upgrades to open the space and prepare it for an expanded floor plan.

Phase Two focused on rigging and placing new and existing machinery, installing a mezzanine to support the updated layout, and adding a new transformer and external chillers to handle increased electrical capacity.

The design took inspiration from Kanthal’s high-capacity facility in Perth, Scotland while adapting the plan to meet the needs of their Concord operation. Although Kanthal is a global company, Liles Construction sourced local elements, including custom metal fabrications and specialized machinery from regional vendors.

The project was completed in early 2025, providing Kanthal with a first-class, upgraded facility to support their continued growth in the Carolinas.
